Dr. Richard Cline Jr.

I have always had an interest in helping people, along with having an adventurous spirit. From childhood I was always interested in medicine. After college, I had several jobs and found out that flying aircraft was fun but expensive. I signed up for the Navy to be a pilot but failed my eye test and ended up in the backseat. I went through Naval Flight Officer training and even trained in the F-14 Tomcat. In the Navy, a Naval flight officer is abbreviated NFO, and those of us in the Naval Flight Officer community had an inside joke that NFO really meant No Future Outside. Since one of my ambitions was also a career in medicine, I applied to medical school. Fortunately for me there was an osteopathic medical school only 150 miles away.

I, like many of you all, did not know what an osteopathic physician really was. I had the opportunity to investigate the osteopathic medical school and found out a lot more about osteopathy. The basic tenant of osteopathy is that a person is a whole in structure and function are intimately related. Osteopathy goes back to 1874, when Dr. Still began helping people by realigning their structure with his hands. This thought of doing things differently appealed to me; I have always been a person who tries to get to the bottom of things. This is why I am putting the Dr. Cline Wellness Center out there to help those who seem to be getting no help from the current medical system.

I graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California in 1995. Being on a military scholarship, I did my residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. Portsmouth is one of the busiest hospitals in the Navy. From there I went to sea for two years, then I was deployed overseas and returned from overseas duty to do my family practice residency in Bremerton, Washington. I am a board-certified family physician by the American Medical Association. From there I deployed with the Marines for two years including a deployment to Iraq. After returning from Iraq, I was transferred to Beaufort (Parris Island), South Carolina from where I was deployed to Kuwait with the Army. After 22 years in the Navy, I retired and began my practice in family medicine as a civilian in 2011.

During my time in family practice, I began to get many patients who had seen multiple specialists but still had the same problems even after specialist’s evaluations and treatments. This notable void is where I began to investigate and learn many of the things that were not taught in medical school. I received my bachelor’s in chemistry from Gannon University with 134 credits, and in my first two years at medical school I earned 240 credits, which shows the vast amount of information that was taught. Despite all the information disseminated in medical schools, there are still many gaps in medical education. Medicine is not just a science but a fluid art form which must continually be expanded. I have been able to help patients with fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, and some types of seizures with dietary changes.

Then came COVID. This was supposedly a new disease but in reality, came out in 2002 and 2005. I researched all that I could to come up with some sort of plan to help my patients. While Dr. Fauci and most of the medical community talked about how there was nothing to do until after you have had a two-year study, I refused to watch my patients die. My patients and I feel that I was able to help them. But COVID had its own unique problems. COVID left many people with unique lingering debilities after recovering from the initial illness. Fortunately, I was able to produce several different treatment plans for the different problems that COVID caused for my patients. These treatment plans have been extremely helpful. I did not do this in a vacuum, and I want to thank all those that did research and took on the challenging work on the treatments of COVID, COVID sequelae and problems from and with the jab by so many others.

Just one of the things that we do here at the Dr. Cline Wellness Center is enhanced extracorporeal counter pressure treatments. EECP technology has been around since the 1970s and is FDA approved for class III and class IV angina, particularly for those patients who are not good surgical candidates. Insurance companies will actually pay for that condition only, but there are too many hoops for me to jump through and there are so many other things that EECP is good for that insurance will not cover. The reason that EECP is approved for class III and IV angina is that EECP can help to grow new blood vessels around the heart, but this new blood vessel growth is not limited to the heart. The new blood vessel growth can occur in other areas throughout the body. The EECP therapy has already helped many of my patients and is just one of the things at the Dr. Cline Wellness Center that may help you.

What Patients Are Saying

“Dr. Cline was amazing. He is spot on with knowing what to do. He actually listens and figures things out. His knowledge is spectacular. He ultimately dives into the problem to fix it, not just figuring out a way to mask the symptoms…I mean, that's what a Dr. should do. I probably wouldn't be so sick if I had seen him from the beginning.”

I have always been able to help those around me from a young age. Whenever I saw someone hurt or sick, I was right there to assist and take care of them. One day my friend’s brother woke up throwing up. I was able to get him settled down on the couch with a blanket, wastebasket, crackers, and fluids. His mom came in and said, “Thank you. Does this not bother you?” I replied, “No, just wanted to get him taken care of. Is there anything else you would like me to do?” I was able to hold my mom’s hand during a bone marrow biopsy, which was a very difficult and overwhelming moment. I have found that I am strong, patient, and passionate in caring for my family and friends. I wanted to provide others with a positive experience in their medical care.

By the summer of 2012, I graduated as a Medical Assistant. I received my certification as an MA in 2013 and moved to Fayetteville, TN. I worked at Alabama Cardiology from November 2013 through July 2024.

I started working at Dr Cline Wellness Center in June 2024. I am enjoying the patients that are coming in for treatment. To see the stages from the beginning to end has been amazing. From being unable to walk with lack of sensation in legs and feet, to being able to feel the differences in the floor when walking can be overwhelming. To support and give hope when patients plateau and encourage that we are only halfway through is my favorite. I enjoy being their biggest fan.

I am looking forward to establishing new relationships, techniques and training provided by Dr Cline Wellness Center. I am grateful and look forward to working with a great team in offering the best care and encouragement I can during EECP therapy and other services provided.

What Patients Are Saying

"Our guy Jon was great to have. He makes the sessions fun. He is a CHARACTER for sure. But having a person like him is great for boosting spirits. He is very thoughtful. He has a way about making you feel at ease."
